Unlike Windows, Kubuntu comes with a large amount of software already installed, like OpenOffice, Amarok, Kaffeine, etc. However I always find I need to install a few more, and whats more, its pretty much always the same. I figured then it would be easier to keep this list online so I can find it, and other people can use it and make suggestions on it too.

The list

All this will need to go on one line but I've presented it like this so it's possible to read.

sudo apt-get install
nfs-common
wine
firefox
gimp
sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts
eclipse
apache2 php5 mysql-server mysql-client phpmyadmin
kde-devel kde-devel-extras kdesvn
synaptic
libxine1-ffmpg avifile-mjpeg-plugin avifile-player gstreamer0.10-pitfdll
libwavpack1 libxine1-plugins libxvidcore4
kdeaddons
msttcorefonts

There will undoubtably be others, and I'll add to this list as I remember them.

Don't forget after installing eclipse to edit the /etc/eclipse/java_home file and change it so java6 is at the top of the list, otherwise it will make you want to kill yourself.
